Two students, Anel Ferguson of the Gingerland Secondary School and Oshana Edwards of the Charlestown Secondary School, were awarded The Bank of Nevis Limited Dr. Simeon Daniel Scholarships for 2014 during a ceremony held at its conference room on Wednesday September 3, 2014.
Acting General Manager of the Bank, Mrs. Lisa Herbert delivered remarks. She congratulated the scholarship recipients and urged them to stay focused and continue performing well in order to uphold the standards of the scholarship.
Mrs. Sheila Daniel, widow of the late Dr. Simeon Daniel also delivered remarks during the ceremony. She indicated that her late husband, who was also a teacher, was a great advocate for education. She congratulated the students and admonished them to study well and aim for the stars.
The scholarships were presented by Mr. Denrick Liburd, Recoveries Officer at The Bank of Nevis Limited. The presentation of scholarships was followed by responses from each of the students. In their responses, the students thanked The Bank of Nevis for affording them the scholarships and pledged their commitment to remain focused on their education. They also expressed gratitude to their parents for supporting their education.
At present, nine students are benefitting from the scholarship programme which was launched in celebration of the Bank’s 25th Anniversary in 2010 in honour of one of the Bank’s pioneering members, the late Dr. Simeon Daniel.
