| The Bank of Nevis Limited Receives HTA’s ‘Business of the Year’ Award | ||
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ||
In giving an overview of the Awards Ceremony, Director of the Nevis branch of the HTA, Mr. Greg Phillip explained that the purpose of the event was to reward deserving individuals and businesses on Nevis for their contribution to the tourism industry. He further explained that the ‘Business of the Year’ Award was being presented to The Bank of Nevis Limited for the significant role it played as a stakeholder in the tourism industry with ties to the community beyond the convenience of its name.
In accepting the award from Premier of Nevis, the Honourable Joseph Parry, General Manager of The Bank of Nevis Limited, Mr. Everette Martin highlighted some areas in which the Bank had contributed to the development of tourism over the years. The Bank’s new building, said Martin, was designed to preserve the historic appearance of Charlestown. Mr. Martin also informed the gathering that the Bank had financed several businesses which are also involved in the tourism industry. He expressed thanks to the HTA for recognizing the efforts of the Bank and for bestowing this honour upon the Institution.
The locally carved, stone-sculpted awards which were presented to the successful nominees, also referred to as ‘the three faces of tourism awards’, appropriately represent the three faces of tourism namely, the community (the people of Nevis), the workers involved in the tourism industry and the tourists.
The HTA plans to host the event on an annual basis. | ||
